Meet Cal Whaley

Attorney Cal Whaley serves on the Criminal Defense Litigation Team. Cal works mainly in criminal defense, representing clients with charges ranging from misdemeanor drug offenses to capital murder. Originally from Dothan, Alabama, Cal graduated at the top of his class at the University of Alabama, majoring in finance before attending the University of Alabama School of Law. After becoming a member of the Alabama State Bar Exam, Cal moved to Birmingham and began practicing criminal defense.

While in law school, Cal worked with the Capital Defense Clinic, helping defend clients charged with capital murder who were facing the death penalty. He also studied criminal procedure, jury selection, and trial advocacy, all with an eye toward practicing criminal defense. As a Birmingham criminal defense lawyer, Cal has years of experience representing his clients in and out of the courtroom.

Cal has been admitted to practice before the Southern, Middle, and Northern Federal District Courts of Alabama, as well as all state courts in Alabama. He is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, as well as the National College for DUI Defense, and the Birmingham Bar Association.
